GE requirements depend on catalog year and have changed frequently since 2019 throughout the California State University system.
If you’re a student seeking information on GE and/or Seawolf Studies Graduation requirements or courses, please visit your Academic Requirements Report (ARR) or the schedule of courses for the current semester, respectively. Both are accessed through your MySSU portal. If you are not a current student, please contact University Advising.
For first-time, first-year students starting in Fall 2025 and after, the GE program consists of 43-units taken as coursework across subject areas 1-6.
The Seawolf Graduation Requirements consist of “overlay” coursework. Some requirements are CSU-wide (i.e., writing and American Institutions) and one is SSU-specific (i.e., Critical Race Studies). Overlay courses are those that may also count towards a student’s GE requirements, major, minor, or elective units depending upon the course.
